1. Slice 2 sweet onions about 1/2 inch thick and separate into rings
  2. Dust them with dry spice rub
  3. Wrap each ring with a slice of bacon
  4. Secure the bacon with a toothpick
  5. Sear the rings for about 1 minute per sid then grill and cook covered for about 1 hour
  6. Brush with barbecue sauce and cook for additional 15 minutes
